This project presents an automated leather wayang player designed to preserve and promote the traditional Indonesian shadow puppet performance, particularly the Ramayana epic. The system animates ten wayang characters that move their bodies and arms in synchronization with narrated dialogues and traditional gending Jawa music, replicating the movements of a dhalang (puppet master). The full Ramayana story is divided into four episodes, performed sequentially by the system. To reach a broader, global audience and support cultural tourism, the narration is delivered in English. This innovation offers a modern way to introduce Indonesia’s cultural heritage to both local and international audiences, combining traditional art with automation technology.
