The Story of MIS @BINUS:
Fostering Innovation, One Idea at a Time
The Maker Innovation Space (MIS) at BINUS University was officially inaugurated on May 2, 2024—coinciding meaningfully with Indonesia’s National Education Day. This dynamic hub was born from a powerful collaboration between BINUS University, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and Arizona State University through the Higher Education Partnership Initiative (HEPI).
MIS was created to be more than just a space—it is a movement. With the mission to empower students, educators, and researchers to turn ideas into impactful solutions, MIS is a cornerstone in BINUS University’s commitment to building a world-class innovation ecosystem. It provides state-of-the-art tools such as 3D printers, laser cutters, electronic prototyping kits, and woodworking equipment—all designed to bring multidisciplinary ideas to life.
This initiative bridges Indonesian and American educational efforts, supporting the nation’s goals to strengthen teaching quality and ensure graduates are work-ready. Through USAID and HEPI, MIS represents a forward-looking investment in Indonesia’s future—one where students are encouraged not just to learn, but to create, solve, and lead.
Now a collaborative arena for creators, technologists, and entrepreneurs, MIS continues to inspire the next generation of changemakers—those who will shape the nation and the world through innovation.
